Welcome back to another blog post. This post is going to be all about a new addition to my makeup collection, the ColourPop Cosmetics Strawberry Shake 9 pan pressed pigment palette. If you want to know all the tea on this palette, then keep on reading!
About The Palette
This beautiful monochromatic pink palette is a beauty. It may not be one I originally gravitated towards, but I can still appreciate its beauty. You obviously get 9 shades; 5 mattes, 3 shimmer/metallics and 1 with their infamous super shock formula. One of the shades (Take A Sip) is a matte base with small micro-glitters throughout it, so I am putting it in the shimmer category. It can be purchased on the ColourPop website for $12 USD (approx. $16 AUD), which means you are only paying about $1.80 AUD per pan!
Just like the other 9 pan palettes I have reviewed, this one comes in a sturdy plastic case with the name printed on the front. Simple but effective. When you open this beauty up, there is a large, high-quality mirror staring back at you. The shade names are printed underneath each shade, as well as on the back of the palette itself.
My Milkshake is a dark pink shade with a matte finish.
Whipped is a dark pink shade with a metallic finish.
Woke is a muted pastel matte pink shade.
Paper Straw is a matte peach shade.
Take A Sip is a pinky-red shade with flecks of sparkle.
Delish is a peach shade with a metallic finish.
Berry Fine is a pink-coral shade with a metallic finish.
Daiquiri is a dark matte red shade.
Shake It Up is a dark pink matte shade.
I think you can tell by my numerous 9 pan palette posts that I really love the concept of them. What shade do you love wearing? ColourPop will have a monochromatic palette of that shade I can guarantee that. There are more mattes in this palette compared to some of the others. However, they are appreciated as there is a great balance of reds and pinks in light to medium shades. The mattes really are the standouts for me in regards to this palette. I mean, look at the swatches! ‘Daiquiri’ is one of the most pigmented, true red shades I have ever seen and I am obsessed with it!
What don’t I like, or what could be improved? Firstly, while I usually rave about their shimmer/metallic formula, this palette falls extremely short. The shade ‘Delish’, in particular, is super crumbly and flakey. It has the ‘super shock’ formula and that could be the reason why. It leaves a slight shimmer on the skin, but it isn’t anything to write home about. Whereas the shades ‘Berry Fine’ and ‘Whipped’ are also slightly flakey and crumbly, at least they have some pigment and ‘wow’ to them. Secondly, and I think you have been waiting for this as I mention it in all these 9 pan posts, there are some shades that are just so similar that you could barely tell the difference when they are on the skin. ‘Woke’ and ‘Paper Straw’ are extremely similar, one is just darker than the other, and ‘My Milkshake’ and ‘Take A Sip’ are also very similar. Perhaps a bright hot pink shade or another shimmery shade could have taken the place of one of these.
What do you think about the ColourPop Blue Moon palette? Have you tried any of the other 9 pan monochromatic palettes? Make sure you leave me a comment and let me know 🙂
That’s all for now Beauties!
